Cool...I'll be there next time.

Bob, You should organize a local race for the spring--give you something to train for. Don't get to carried away, just set up a way to register racers.

Damn...that can be a gnarly bit of water.

Fog, currents, variable and opposing winds/swell, heavy commercial traffic.

Back in my yacht captaining days I always gave approaches to the New England coast a very healthy respect.

Already been thinking about that. Going to keep them coastal though to avoid the need for chase boats. Was thinking about one around the Boston Harbor islands, Cape Cod..Nauset to Wellfleet, Nantasket - BOP format, and also been trying to get SUP included in some other races. Particularly the Run of the Charles. Biggest question is...will anyone show up? Very limited interest in SUP racing here so far.

They also started up The Great Race again last year...same day as the CCBC unfortunately. But we're likely to move our date next year. That would be fun. Although its different than the original.

Oooh. That great race sounds like fun. Might have to make it out for that. Maybe have the CCBC the weekend after or before and i can do both?

BOP format enables spectators, it would be a natural for Plymouth. You just need to get twenty or so paddlers to make it a good race. If you do age groups for trophies and a couple of board categories (say under 12'7, and open class) then anyone could play. The BOP trophies were miniature paddles--you could bang those out.
