Very cool. I was trying to get together with Dave Kalama this week and turns out he was packing to go to Namotu. I'm going to have to do this trip, if a guy like Kalama is that stoked on the place it has to be pretty cool.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

I was talking to Dave about it yesterday at the Handsome Buggah SUP contest at Ho'okipa. He said you guys had some great surf every day. Sounded like a dream trip. I've got to go sometime soon.

It would be interesting to watch you and a Harvard graduate meet, and see if he could work his Harvard degree into the conversation faster than you worked "I just got back from a week at Tavarua with Dave Kalama" into it.   ;D

Of course, one's a lot more rare than the other.

I went last November to the Kalama Kamp. I can't say enough good thing about Dave, his team, and the Namotu  Island Resort. Honestly, I think about it all the time. The only think is, like any surf trip, especially when you book it months in advance, you can't guarantee the conditions you'll find there.  We did have some wind issues which put a crease in some of the surfing, but being a SUP trip, we could adapt. That is one of the great things about SUP, when it's calm and there's surf, you surf; calm and no surf, you work on paddling; windy, you learn SUP downwinding.

I would have had the commemorative t-shirts and cards printed before I even got back.
