Kiting with a 12' Glide
« on: September 28, 2010, 10:52:14 AM »

Had a blast on my Naish Glide and 3m Trainer Kite...wind 20-25mph

I was surprised at the amount of speed I could pick up with that small of a kite. I'm definately going to try it again on the next windy day  ;D

That is awesome.  I have been thinking about getting a trainer and had wondered if it would work with a SUP.  What lake are you on in the pic?

I'd recommend it, this was on Lake Washington right outside of Meydenbauer Bay in Bellevue. Did a downwinder/side-winder from near the just North of the East Channel Bridge all the way to the 520 bridge. The swells were huge out in the channel near 520, it was awesome to work the kite and have it pull me into the swells  :)

I was using the Best Kiteboarding Foil Trainer which is actually only 2.4 meters, sure packed a punch tho. I know there are water-relaunchable trainers that are larger as well.

Is the trainer a two line kite?

Yeah it's a simple 2 line kite with no chickenloop aka no harness attachment.

Have you ever tried with a larger kite?  Maybe a 5 or 7m?  Seems like a lot of work with the trainer kite.  They never want to stay parked in the power zone.
