Yet another (surf) paddle question...my shoulders hurt!

ended up getting a kialoa methane 82 inches, after the first day with it chopped it down to 80 inches, problem solved! no shoulder pain, paddle is a great fit, especially no wthat winter is coming and waves will be bigger, a shorter paddle will allow me to squat down a little more when getting into bigger waves and be more stable.

My shoulders don't hurt anymore also.. and I also use a Methane for almost all my paddling now.. (flat, down-wind and surf) .. and almost all my friends have settled on using the Methane with some going to the even smaller 'Pipes'.

i too am using a methane in the waves mine is 5" over my height.  I've tried a couple diff lengths and asked some guys on here with more experience and it sounds like 5-7 inches over height and a smaller blade is key.  Drops the shoulders right down and once you're turning, your knees are bent right down, so length does'nt matter much on a wave.
