Testing GoPro Hero HD
« on: August 23, 2010, 07:49:29 AM »
I have to say that this GoPro camera is really cool. I shot a little video yesterday riding in my backyard on a Naish Glide 12'. It was pretty cool how this camera works and I can't wait to get it into the surf for some really action shots. Here is the video. Let me know your thoughts. If anyone can give me paddling advice I would always appreciate that as well.  ;D

Gotta love that GoPro! Only issue I've found is that it will expose any horsepower issues with your PC when it comes down to editing the files.
Besides the board mount, I also like the chest mount.

Air, does the chest harness have a quick release? I've been thinking of getting
the GoPro with chest harness but I'd like to have the ability to quickly detach it and get shots of my buddies while paddling back out.

Yep, the chest harness has a a plastic clasp like on a PFD to get it on & off your chest. Plus the camera itself has a small clasp that will detach the camera from the harness. But frankly I find it just as easy to face the target & push the button while it's on my chest. The camera doesn't have a view finder on it at all, which seems odd but is something I found easy to deal with. So removing it from your chest doesn't do much good anyway.

I totally agree it took forever to render the video. I also want to try some additional mounts like the chest one etc. My only other critic is that view finder would help a little for positioning even though I was able to figure it out by just lining stuff up. Good camera for a good price.

GoPro cameras rock.

Next big improvement will be a radio remote control to install on the paddle...
