Quepos and manuel antonio are nice.  Sometimes quepos is firing.  I think Manuel Antonio is nicer.  It is close by too.

I don't know of any SUP rentals in either town.  You might have to rent in Jaco and take it there.

Quepos + MA are both very nice, great place to exlore on SUP, especially around the points in the National Park and between the Park and Quepos.  I don't know who is renting boards yet, but I have a few contacts down there and will let you know if I hear back anytime soon - enjoy your trip.

I stayed at Don Bufalo's in Quepos back in April.  They rented surfboards in Manuel Antonio & Jaco (and the road to Jaco), but I didn't see any SUP rentals yet.  I hired a guide out of Chuck's WoW to take me Bocca Barranca one day and he said he saw plenty of folks SUPing at that time, but not much in the way of rentals yet.

Manuel Antonio is really nice.  SUP'n around the Nat' Park would be awesome.

Is this your first time to CR?  Great place, but be wary of leaving cameras and other tempting "snatch & grab" items in your car.  Petty theft can be an issue.

Hey! I'm new to this typing stuff. If you get to the Pavones area, Shawn and Natalie Donahue are the people to see...Just returned and had a fantastic time..Shawn taught me to Stand UP and Paddle like a mad dog! I'll never forget it. RAHHHHHHHHHHH! I'll post some photos as soon as I learn how to do it.

Hey!  That's Dave Terry!! Shawn taught the old timer how to Stand Up and Paddle when he went down to Costa Rica. He's been ranting and raving about SUP ever since. I'd know that bald head anywhere!!

houseroche..welcome to the fourm.
I was at Chucks wow a few weeks ago,he had some 9'8" quads that looked like fun & some longer boards for tooling around.
$40 per 24hr I think he said, nothing else for rent until you get down our way that I know of.
Good luck & have fun, there's good paddling every were in CR.

I've seen some SUPs in Noosara.  Does anyone know about the rental situation there?  Do any shops in Noosara rent SUPs or are they private owned sups - guys just having a blast?
