Oh brah....thats cool man!!! 8)

Hey Sam, we've been doing a lot of Maliko runs recently....so fun!!!
Randy Chan and I did one today...Randy and I where on a bunch glides together...
about 1 ft apart even closer on a few ;D laughing our asses off....even some overhead waves coming into camp 1 breaking close to where we were :D yeeehaaa!!!!
The whole run was waist to chest high glides...one right after another... nonstop!!

When can you do another one with us?

Love to see some of your custom DW boards. How much does the 12'6" weigh?
Be sure to update us after the race, and a full report on how the board did!!!

I guess I missed the post about the 14'6"...is that your board? How do you like it?
Any pics?

How are you using the Aku program? Do you just look at the program to see where all the measurements should be and do it by hand? You don't have a machine do you?

Cool Man...hope to see ya soon.

Randy

So far.....We made two DW boards.....from what I hear the 14'-6" is a big hit!.........So we made a 12'-6" same design......Next board 16'-6" w/a rutter. Rutter system built by Mr. Migaver (ME)......LMAO Like I can?.....Stay tune

That's my friends board........we built it for him not knowing of its success. In it's first race....it came in top ten.....Awesome

When I did this board I used the AKU program, made some measurement......called Frank for some questions.....and got it done.

Mahalo your the kind words. Yes it is very light!.......I was getting a LOT compliments on its weight and a few disbelief on how one board can be THAT light without using any carbon fiber. lol

I saw Mark Rappaherst there and he was the one that actually let me go to his shop and learn the whole vacuum bag technique. He's my inspiration and someone that can not go un-notice without recognition when it come this technique.........Thanks Mark!!!..........He did tell me "hey I heard your the king of Vacuum Bagging"...I told him "no way" your the man that taught me the VB thing...."Your the Man"......and we both laugh  :D

Aloha Everyone,
This is the first time I EVER did this race on a 12-6. This is the first time this board EVER did a downwind run. And this was the first time this board EVER did an Hawaii Kai run. Now despite the numerous times I fell, I was still able to catch some long glides.

I was neck & neck with a few 14 footers and started losing my pace when I started falling. You see my weight to board ratio doesn't match up. I'm a bit to big for this board and knew it prior to the race. This board is fit for someone under 200lb and at 230lb  it was a bit tippy for me. But I needed to see how this board preforms on its first run.........and I must say it passes with flying colors.

I seen the results of the 12-6 class and I came in top 6 with a time 1:52:18. It also shown that I finished 64 out of 142 SUP, and finished 103 out 134 overall......not bad for its first time

There's a still more work to be done to make my own DW boards, but its still fun to build. Next Sunday were doing the Haleiwa Joes race and I will have lighter pilot on this board. Well thats the low down on this board. There's bigger & better ideas on making our next board much more lighter then it is now. But first will build a 16ft with a rutter sys and we have know idea how to do it....But will try!

Thanks everyone for your support and see you in the water........

Aloha........Sam

Way to go Bradda Sam!!! ;D
Very interested to see how your DW boards will progress as you get more time on the water and input from the riders.
Also interested on your rudder system... how you guys decide to build it.
Keep us posted....ROCK ON!!! 8)

PS
Cool to see the Maui guys right in there too 8)
Way to go guys ;)

I also saw Sam at the Duke race and can attest to the lightness of his board. I'd be surprised if it weighed more than 15lbs. Another fine job Sam and Myron. It was great hanging out with you guys as always.

Aloha, Alex
