I know that a bunch of the big wave guys from here headed down "way south"  today, where it is reportedly getting big already.

STORM-FORCE WINDS. AS THE SYSTEM TRACKED SE TO E OF NEW
ZEALAND...THE WIND SPEEDS DECREASED. HOWEVER...THE FETCH WAS
EXCEPTIONALLY BROAD AND LONG.

LONG PERIOD FORERUNNERS ARE EXPECTED LOCALLY ON THURSDAY FROM
190-200 DEGREES WITH 16-19 SECOND PERIODS. SURF SHOULD BUILD TO
MODERATE LEVELS. THE EPISODE WILL LIKELY PEAK FRIDAY...AT LOW-END
HIGH LEVELS...AND SLOWLY DROP INTO SUNDAY FROM 180-200 DEGREES.

INTO THE LONG RANGE...THE SYSTEM TRACKED EAST AND INCREASED IN
INTENSITY SOUTH OF FRENCH POLYNESIA OVER THE PAST DAY. STORM-FORCE
WINDS OVER A LONG...WIDE FETCH ARE AIMED AT TARGETS SLIGHTLY EAST OF
HAWAII. THIS PATTERN SUGGESTS A ROUND OF EVEN HIGHER SURF
LOCALLY...BUILDING LATE SUNDAY FROM 170-185 DEGREES...PEAKING
MONDAY...AND DROPPING BACK TO MODERATE LEVELS BY WEDNESDAY FROM
160-180 DEGREES. THE PATTERN LOOKS MORE TYPICAL OF NOVEMBER AFTER
THIS EPISODE WITH ONLY TINY TO SMALL SURF LOCALLY STARTING THE END
OF NEXT WEEK.

Today's update:

The equatorial buoy has begun to show a new SSW swell passing under it, with impressive numbers of 10.2 feet, and 17 second intervals! If this swell pushes into our leeward sides, we should see a rather significant rise in surf size along our south and west facing beaches by early Friday. A second round of larger than normal, late season south swell is expected early next week, which could trigger a high surf advisory.

A few years ago today we were getting this on the North Shore.  This is Kanaha mind you, so you know how it looked further up.  How fun would that be on StandUp? OOOOOOOHHHHHHH!
