Apropos of nothing, I found this on youtube.

This is how I wasted my youth while the smart guys were surfing. Perhaps San Jose footage but the grandstands look wrong. Hoped to find myself wobbling around in the mid-field but there were a lot of races back in the 60-70's and I just did local stuff. I recognize a lot of these guys though, especially the easy ones like Mert Lawill and Scott Brelsford. For some reason I remember the hapless #33 guy with the orange helmet, but I can't recall his name. I got really good at crashing, busted my share of hay bales.
