Does it cost less than an e-Foil!

Very cool! Electric, 20 minutes flight time for $92,000 partially assembled. If I could swap out the battery from the Tesla or other EV and the range went up by 5 times??? Wow!

Pioneer stuff, it looks like great fun, but I suspect eFlight will be a lot different from straight-up multicopter design in the near future. People like me see these toys and think they'd be fun to own, but all the practical applications I'd use to justify one are bullshit. At one time I had myself convinced that ultralight aircraft would be great for camping and fishing trips. Never happened. My friends and I nearly killed ourselves a few times flying in what amounted to a cheap beach chair. I view things like this as something that would be fun for a friend to own so I could beg a ride or two. "If it fly's, floats, or fxxxs--rent, don't buy". I think that was Jeffrey Epstein's motto.

First thought: I love it.
Second thought: I could crash the hell out of that thing.

It's a little more then an eFoil, but imagine following down the face of a pumping Mavericks wave 6'-10'  above the surface. Then just flying back up on the bluffs above. Better yet, put a surfboard rack on the side and get to the beach that no one else can.

You'll notice he stays over well-traveled tracks and hopefully has told others his flight plan.

Drone is probably a somewhat legitimate term. Multicopters are extremely hard to fly unless a reasonably fast computer is taking care of all the stability issues. It's got to be all fly-by-wire, no direct control at all. With minor additions to the software required to fly it pseudo-manually, it could fly autonomously. In fact, the software is probably all there. The joystick controls are just to make you feel like you're in control. Certainly, you could set a destination and tell the thing to take you there. It would be crazy not to make that part of the software, it's all pretty well baked, you don't have to invent much, open source drone software is all over GitHub. Object avoidance, minimum/maximum altitude, speed, direction, etc. are all certain to be fully automated. Just like flying a DJI drone, only your seat is onboard.
