As SUP wave riders are we scared of "regular" surfers?

I always approach a crowd with a chatty smile and the "Golden Rule" of not being a wave hog. Like liv2surf, I've surfed 40+yrs, kitesurf 15yrs, 14' sup race/fitness touring & sup surf my local rural RI area the last 5+yrs, locally nobody's on the water more then me (also a professional offshore Capt). If attitude is thrown my direction because I'm on my SUP (only happened once) it's met head on, its never another local. Respect in the ocean is earned between you and mother ocean and she'll give you a slap if needed. True waterman do everything; Surf, SUP, Kite/Windsurf, bodysurf... it takes commitment and is very rewarding to the few that endure. And its really fun, except the learning part, that can suck. The old saying for most things ocean; you better hurry up and learn cause you're still going to suck this time next year.    Plus it keeps you strong!

I have   lines of little pictures of broken short boards with lines through like on world war 2 fighters       nah but just respect everyone in the water  besides they make excellent shark bait lol  what is wrong with me tonight?
