Maldives SUP trip with Sunova Team

Looks like an incredible experience!  Will need to check out my scheduling for next year.  And look forward to Tom's trip report - though I imagine it's going to be pretty good    

But holy crap is that a long flight from the West coast!

Wait, what? I hate flying.

Thought they could pick us up in the boat at Dana Point Harbor, and we could cruise over from there.  Dang, I'm really going to have to rethink this thing I guess.

Long flight  indeed. It's  pretty much the same the same time and distance  if I   fly  east or west. The good news is I   got a flight San Diego  to San Francisco Singapore  to Male  on Singapore  rt for $1075.

Ah heck no, just looked at travel times and 36.5 hours from SNA to MLE? That certainly ain't happening. I mean seriously, wasting 3 whole days rt in airports, and in the air...you guys really do that kind of thing?

I guess that I'm just a simple man, and will continue to be happy with the meager mushy offerings of SOCo, and NSDCo for now.

Maybe someday I'll venture back on a plane to HI sometime again, but even flying that far has be fidgeting in my seat right now just thinking about it. Yeah, I'm only good for a couple hours of seat time at most whether it be plane, train, or automobile, and then it's time to get out to do something...anything, but sitting on my arse in a way too tightly cramped seat any longer.

The trip sure sounds like a ton of fun, but not sure what I was thinking when it came to getting there, when I knew it was halfway around the globe from me.

Well y'all have a great time w/o me, and please, please, please someone post lots of video, and a few nice big snapshots as well...so all us "hang at homers" can pretend we were right there witya.

Reviving this thread - I'm thinking pretty seriously about the October 2019 trip. Anyone else looking at going/been?

The date is on my 10th anniversary, so we are going to go to Europe a bit while we are on that side of the world.

I  put my money down on next year's trip before I got off the boat. I think it's almost full, so better follow through soon. Best trip ever.
