Wife and I just watched this tonight, pretty good. Can’t believe Luca is only 16. Kid seems well beyond his years in maturity with such a calm demeanor.

Nice relaxing mellow beatings ;) You fear it or love it.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Just finished this last night.  If you are into big-wave surfing this was a pretty good overview.

It included all the characters and perspectives of the veterans Garrett and Jamie Mitchell, the bad-ass Aaron Gold, the up and coming energetic youth Luca Padua, the female angle from Emily Erickson and the neophyte paddler Alessandro Marciano.

There was plenty of time spent on Luca, his energy and desire to overcome injury.  Alessandro's character was particularly interesting because of the fear, lack of experience and whining he displayed.  The rest of the team was being pretty sensitive to this but they could have just said what Jeff Clark often says "If you want a wave then go over there (pointing to the bowl) and get one."

It's mostly a mental game and Alessandro was the perfect 'frazzled' newbie.

Yep, I was definitely able to feel his pain, because that's pretty much how I'd be out there, only difference...he's out there, and I'll never be...thank you very much. :)

The waves looked fun, and doable both days...it's just the inevitable long and turbulent hold downs that I have no interest in experiencing...at least no longer at trying it for the first time at 58. Just ain't got the lung capacity of my youth, and even some of the "bigger" (read "tiny in comparison") ones locally on occasion have me wondering while under....why I'm not just watching all these festivities from the beach.   :o :D
Me: 6'1"/185...(2) 5'1" Kings Foil/Wing Boards...7'10 Kings DW Board...9'6" Bob Pearson "Laird Noserider"...14' Lahui Kai "Manta"...8'0" WaveStorm if/when the proning urges still hit.

Ditched NetFlix and viewed SM in it's entirety in one sitting. Very cool. Always admired G Mac and his amazing big wave skills. I first discovered him in 2008 on a Youtube video of him at Ruggles sup surfing the Hurricane Bill swell. It was that video that inspired me to start road tripping to RI. Ain't the internet grand?!

the female angel from Emily Erickson

My two favorite characters in this film.
Emily because what guy wouldn't instantly be attracted to such an amazing female? And she kinda reminded me of my favorite female Hawaiian big wave surfer Paige Aims.
Alessandro because I see myself in him regarding my fear of foiling.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Rhode Island doesn’t get any waves and even if it did, it’s not SUP friendly. Seriously. Look elsewhere, please.
