Jim Campbell, Little Compton

Jim Campbell

Posted Wednesday, March 14, 2018 5:44 am

On March 10, 2018, Jim Campbell rode his final wave at his beloved South Shore Beach straight into eternity.

In life, Jim was a devoted father, loving friend, and a compassionate coach and mentor to everyone he knew. A proud scholar athlete, he excelled in every endeavor he engaged in, from track and field to lacrosse, from surfing to painting.

Born and raised in Seekonk, Massachusetts, Jim built a wonderful life for his family as a successful salesman at the Lindenmeyr Munroe paper company, a position he held for 40 years before retiring late last year.

Upon moving to Little Compton in 1994, Jim quickly became a pillar of the community he grew to love so dearly. A true embodiment of kindness and selflessness, Jim’s legacy will live on in the memories of his two sons and wife, and in the hearts of the countless individuals lucky enough to have known his pure and gentle soul.

Jim passed peacefully on a sunny Saturday afternoon, surrounded by friends and family. His final days were marked by a tremendous celebration of his life, filled with love, kindness and music that reverberated like sunlight through the hospital halls. It was, by all accounts, the most breathtakingly beautiful few days the hospital had ever seen.

Jim is survived by his wife, Leonora [Ouellette] Campbell; his two sons, Lukas and Silas all of Little Compton; his sister, Deborah Bellows of Warren; his two half-brothers, Scott Campbell of Tennessee and Mackenzie Campbell of New Hampshire; and his half-sister, Kathryn Swenson of New Hampshire. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John R. Campbell, and was the son of the late Donald Campbell and Barbara Borne.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, March 18, from 1-5 p.m. at the Fern Acres Funeral Home, 72 Willow Avenue, Little Compton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jim Campbell to New England Donors Services, 60 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451-1106.

Sounds like a great guy Johnny, lived a good life.
Too bad he didn’t get to enjoy some more retirement time.
