Slingshot?
« on: September 20, 2017, 12:32:29 PM »
Anyone have some input on these? I have a Naish foil on order but am worn out looking for a board. I normally sup a 7'7"X27.
These seem like a decent deal.

Big in Florida, came late to sup, looks like they had a foot in the wake and kite markets. No clue what overseas factory makes their stuff.  Not particularly light.  No clue on durability either.

It’s a good looking board. I saw the proner version at Surf Expo.

Very thick tails. Should make it easier.

I checked out the prone version yesterday.  Heavy and almost 3" rails on the prone model.  In my opinion the tail is too wide on the SUP.  The wide tails drag on the face and the foil provides a ton of stability, so I don't think they are needed.

Shop guy's educated guess was 190 liters.  Huge.

Here's another perspective on the Slingshot wings.

My experience SUP foiling, the foil provides no added stability when paddling. In fact, it tends to feel less stable while your body adjusts to the different feel. The foil under the board, picks up every bit of current, rips, and wave energy, tossing and fighting your natural balance instincts.

For whatever reason, this is the opposite of my experience.  I put my foil on my smallest board, and it is much easier to balance on than it was without the foil.  Including going through a rip and over white-wash, etc.

Just want to offer the idea that Dave Kalama could ship you a board and that'd be a pretty good idea both for you and him.

I'm with you on this was out today in some horable rippy and all over the place conditions and it feels like some one is holding the foil and trying to shake you off. In glass conditions it's a lot easier!
