Uppity Great White Sharks in Santa Cruz.
« on: July 11, 2017, 02:20:56 PM »
First a sight seeing helicopter spots 30 Great Whites in 20 minutes down at Seacliff, then a 15 footer breached right before Jack O'Neill's paddle out, and now this shark, or maybe the same one, knocking a kayaker out of his boat today.

It emptyed the line up at the Lane for an hour or so.

They are saying the Lane is closed for 4 days with a 500 dollar fine for surfing.

It's not working. 15 people out right now.

Sharks and a potential $500 fine wouldn't keep me out if there was a swell. 15 or more people at the same break might keep me out.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

It's the Great White Lottery.  The survivors get all the swells.

Is there actually a civil servant somewhere who is going to get into trouble because a shark bites somebody that warrants a 4 day ban with fines?

Ahead of their time?

Perhaps the sharks are feeling their oats ahead of the Phelps beat down. #Phelpsface

Why does the media always call these incidents shark "attacks"?  I consider them shark "exploratory bites".

Do those idiots who temporarily ban swimming and surfing actually believe that if you don't see any sharks there must not be any around?   Duh.  I guess if they knew the reality, the ban would be permanent.  :o   ::)
