Yeah, it's pretty cool. We'll see how the chick magnet thing works out, but I'm not holding my breath  ;). The finish is interesting when compared to the V2. It's obviously handmade and painted as there are small imperfections all over it and the paint is really thin and you can see through it in places. They must have saved at least a pound just on the finish compared to the V2. The V2 almost looked Plasti-dipped it had so much paint on it, though it was a durable and attractive finish.
I got a roll of RSPro Jumbo to go on it. That might be tomorrows indoor project since it's supposed to rain all day.

Yea,  that is a pretty awesome looking board.....just don't run into anything!

Hopefully it will float longer than a steel hulled trawler if it gets a hole in it  :o

I'm guessing I'm going to be more careful than usual when going between Split Rock and Wells Island at low water. That's a place on the Viento run where there are dozens of old pilings, I think from the log raft days of old, just under the surface. When the water is murky, which it usually is, you can be on a nice little swell and suddenly have these sawed off telephone poles whizzing by your board. It would definitely rip the fin box right out  :(
It's also not uncommon in the spring to encounter full size Douglas Fir logs floating in the river until the water level starts to go down a bit.
Barges, logs, kiters, gill nets, giant sturgeon, old kooks on SUP's - the Columbia is fraught with hazards to navigation.

Who cares - aesthetics is the wallet opener at the end of the day and that's a great looking piece of kit !

Def that hollow Bullet V3 looks beautiful.  Probs is just the right width.  The 14V2 we have is a tad too stable and a touch too slow for distance AW.  Nonetheless is still a fantastic AW board.  Def our most versatile DW board besides our small chop distance Touring pintail.  Your V3 should be a fun board for sure.  Keep us updated how you are liking it.  Should ride just about perfect.   ;)

It really does look like a Ferrari.

I took it on a little shakedown cruise for about an hour today. First impressions compared to the V2. It feels a little faster and better accelerating, but that's subjective, obviously. It does seem to push less water under the nose, though part of that may be due to the reduced volume which causes it to sit lower in the water. To get it trimmed out I'm standing an inch or two farther forward than on the V2. The tail of this is pulled in a little narrower so that's what I was expecting.
It's a little less stable, but more of a difference than I expected, being only 1/2 inch narrower at the wide point. That's a good thing though, as I've always felt the V2 was a bit of a barge rail to rail for my size.
It was super glassy but I was able to catch a little boat wake for a bit.
If I have any reservations it's that the volume might be a tad on the low side for my weight, but It feels a little faster so hopefully that will all balance out when paddling for swell on light days. On big days I'm sure it will be a riot as it is really light and responsive.
One other interesting thing was the sound of the water slapping of the hollow hull. Not super loud, but definitely a different sound. A nice surprise was that although the board did seem to flex a bit, the deck feels really solid under foot, I think more so than the V2. They must obviously reinforce that area with some stringers knowing that there will be knuckleheads like me stumbling around on it :)

Yeah, there are full height PVC stringers, I think four of them longitudinally and a couple transverse. Next time you're in Maui go up to Hali'imaile and get a tour. People worry about sanding the seam along the side, thinking that's where the top and bottom join. Not at all, you can grind it flat if you like, there's an internal flange almost the full height of the rails.

After you visit SIC you can go to Hali'imaile General Store for lunch. Mango margarita. Asian pear duck confit Tostada. Paniolo Ribs--or maybe the crispy half duck.

But that's just me.

I didn't paddle today--to my everlasting shame, but I did work hard in the shop. On the water tomorrow. See you out there.

I figured there was some pretty good structure under the deck. Next time I'm in Muai I'll have my driver (Cove) take me by the shop for a tour. Ducks and Ribs, that sounds better than dinner at Whole Foods.
As for tomorrow, with any luck I'll be dodging the masses at Waikiki in the afternoon on my layover.

It really does look like a Ferrari.

DJ will remind you that the original color of the Ferrari was not read but Modena yellow :-) at least until the race federation gives Italy red (UK green, France blue......) and Magnum PI started driving a red one....

DJ would be wrong--but I doubt he'd say that. The earliest Ferraris were all race cars, and were Barchetta red.

This is the earliest car sold under Ferrari's name

Red has been Italy's racing color since 1907. Before then it was USA's color. Yellow has always been Belgium. Ecurie Francorchamps raced Ferraris painted yellow.

I've been a racer since my 20's and a race fan for even longer, but you had me going for a second there. I had to look it up to confirm.

The yellow Ferraris were raced by Belgium in the distant past. They were NOT the first Ferraris, not even close. Alternative facts..

Enzo's first car built by him as opposed to the Alfa Romeos that he raced and modified was in 1940. A darker red..

I don't know foils, but this is about cars..
