Waterproof Ipod?
« on: September 23, 2007, 07:08:47 PM »
Hey you all.. anyone listen to music while paddling?  I have seen the H20 Audio waterproof casing and headphones, but don't know anyone who has tried it.  Not sure what I think of music while paddling, but sometimes those long solo flat water paddles can get long.

I use that one. Just used it today on a 2 hour paddle. I was thinking when I was out there, it does make me forget what I'm doing at times , like I will be paddling forever on one side (using a rudder board) then think "oh yeah, I have another side" and swich. But it is good to keep motivation going. I used it on my Maui to Molokai trip and it was great. Good on shuffel and motivational play lists. THe sound of mine sucks, but it is because I need to put wax in the ear plugs and get a good seal. I figured this out going under water and, when my ears filled with water, tha sound was perfect. We found it at costco for 1/2 of the surf shop price, like $60 something bucks.   Well worth that.  I'd like to check out the othere, I like this because it works with my 4 gig ipod, so there is a LOT of music in there (mostly Jonny Lang)

We live on the Big Island and buy a lot of stuff from High Tech on Maui, they ship for us, Really nice of them.  My wife got it from there, then saw it at Costco, bought it there also, they were nice enough at HT to allow a return, and she saved 50%. I think they still have them at Costco.

I use the H2O Audio case for the shuffle, works really well. Use it for kiting, paddle, even bike riding. If you're getting a bad sound from the head set, don't push them into your ears  so much, it cuts off the channel for the sound. I alse tend to use the ear pieces with out the head band.

check out www.swimman.com.  A fully waterproof shuffle.  I don't own one, but I've heard good things about it from swimmers.  I have no affiliation BTW.

Put on your polarized shades and cruise the ocean with some Pink Floyd in your ears, and i'm pretty sure you'll see the man upstairs.  Jokes aside, the polarized glasses are a great call when not surfing.  The whole ocean opens up underneath you.  Very cool stuff.

Just tried the Audio H20 headphone and case.  The case is pretty cool.. the headphones are super painful.  My ears were hurting even before I got in the water.  The ear pieces are pretty big and they push hard on your ears.  I tried putting in the ear canal plugs and that helped a bit.  Anyone have suggestions on fitting the headphones better?

you know you can cut the barbs off the earpieces to make it fit better so it isn't poking into your eardrum so much

H2O Audio makes the best waterproof iPod case and waterproof headphones in the business.  They just came out with the new 2nd generation shuffle case.  If your on Maui you can get them at Hi Tech, if not try there website www.h2oaudio.com

I have been slowing cutting the barbs off one at at time to until they fit.  The sound is not the best in the world, but I had a nice short paddle with tunes yesterday and it was a totally different experience out there.  Now I just have to figure out a good playlist.

I have been using this ipod waterproof speaker attached to a backpack or fanny pack.  It's a trip to see people's reactions when I paddle by them with tunes cranking.  I have a tribal drums cd I listen to to really get amped while paddling.  http://www.chumbo.com/info.aspx?id=383923&ptr=fg $99 is wholesale price.
