Nice install. The BP grips are really nice.

Mahalo! Yeah, I'm stoked with it and grateful to BP for it. It's one of those small things that most company's couldn't be bothered with because demand and profit margin is low, but it's an item that can make a huge difference to someone who is passionate about the sport. It definitely boosts the SUP common good and represents spirit of Aloha.

Dub_G, when you say "inserted a wetted out piece of cloth that was cut to fit perfect around all sides when the grip was fully inserted"...

Is that the piece that you then pushed down into the cavity so it "surrounded the grip on all sides" when pushed down?

Yes, and it was a tight fit, slipped in no resistance but snug.

Also, after you pushed the grip into the cavity, and epoxy came out of the seams, I assume it got on to the pad? If so, how did you clean the epoxy off the deck pad?

Thanks... I'm beginning to feel a project coming on...

I managed to estimate amount of epoxy very well, so just enough came out to know it sealed thoroughly. I didn't even have acetone handy, but a rag still removed any excess perfectly. I did use a utility knife to carefully trim any epoxy lip that formed before epoxy went rock hard -- did it at about a 45 degree angle to flange. Came out even nicer than i expected. It's a well designed handle, so that made the whole process smooth.

I think the key was to remove weight on handle when epoxy had set up but was still pliable. Some epoxy had expanded out into grooves on deck pad a little, but I used a flat head screwdriver to filet/wedge between that epoxy ooze and pad with slow even pressure and semi hard epoxy separated from pad easily.

Thanks for the process details. Well described!

Mahalos for the positive feedback and providing a great functional SUP GRIP! A true example of Live Aloha!
Used it in the surf yesterday and it makes carrying my SUP comfortable vs. cumbersome.
Have a great New Year and hope to be able to thank you in person if I get back to O'ahu. Peace.
