Any movies you can watch repeatedly?
« on: October 12, 2016, 02:11:22 PM »
I don't like many of the current movies and constantly find myself going back to old favorites.  They're not particularly great movies or movies that I'm proud of watching repeatedly but they do entertain me on a consistent basis for reasons probably having to do with an inferior intellect, which I can't help, so I embrace em without regard to dignity.  Anyway, I'm looking for some new ***entertaining*** movies (nothing brainy, please) that I can add to my line up.  Suggestions are welcome.
for better or worse, here are a few of mine: superbad, notting hill, the first two bourne flix, snatch and good long stretches of pretty woman.  i know there are others but i've blocked them out at the moment.  gawd help me.

Ones I've watched several times myself:  The Italian Job (not the original).   James Bond (especially Sean Connery ones).  Entrapment.  Blues Brothers. Cinema Paradiso.  Undercover Brother.  The last three are great for music (depending on your taste) although none would be called musicals.

I am a huge fan of Tom Cruise, no idea why. "Knight and Day" I'll watch every time it's on. Any of the MI movies. The Jack Reacher movie with Robert Duval.

1. The Godfather
2. Caddy Shack
3. Tin Cup
4. Gone with the Wind
5. The scene from Cliffhanger where the woman plummets to her death. Hate heights. Reminds me why.
6. Goodfellas

Just a couple of guys (Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward) running around in the desert.... its relaxing...

Also any technicolor Hitchcock film.

Good lists from all...some favorites in there. I watch "It's A Wonderful Life" a couple times a year, now that it's digital once is always late on Christmas Eve. I'm not religious in any sense but I love the message and one of my favorite memories of my Dad is watching it sitting on his lap as a kid.

Outside of that
Bullit

The French Connection
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067116/?ref_=nv_sr_2
Any Clint Movie from old spaghetti westerns to current
The Bourne series are fun
Movies based on Tom Clancy books......except for those starring Ben Affleck
Matt Damon movies.....Good Will Hunting was great despite Ben Affleck....he can actually play a Boston kid go figure.... :)
Old Sci Fi is always fun.....and the new is amazing if for nothing else than the visual feast they offer. Who doesn't want to visit Pandora? I don't think I've ever anticipated a sequel more eagerly than Avatar 2. Considering the tech that Cameron put together for the 1st it should be mind blowing......VR immersion anybody?

Nothing beats Napoleon Dynamite for repeat-ability, but...
Blazing Saddles, Blues Brothers, Notting Hill, All 3 Godfathers, Hitch, Ever After, The Devil Wears Prada, Juno, Gladiator, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Knight's Tale, Groundhog Day (ironic..ironic), A few good men, Casino Royale (new),  Endless Summer and ES2, Shrek, The Great Escape, Patton, Lawrence of Arabia, Inglourious Basterds, and Pulp Fiction all fall into that next category.

some of mine already mentioned...others.
Sandlot.
Bad News Bears
Little Big Man
Fargo
Reservoir Dogs
Angels with Dirty Faces
African Queen
Trading Places
48 Hours
Beverly Hills Cop
The old Robin Hood movie with Errol Flynn is great, I always seem to stop and watch when I stumble on that or the Costner one is on. Same with Waterworld, Field of Dreams, Blow, Lord of the Rings (first three)........missing some.

couple winters ago I decided I wanted to watch a series. Picked Mad Men. I had heard about it. Binge watched that thing. Wow. Could not believe how emotionally attached to it I became. I was able to watch through till season 6 then had to wait for season 7 to play out over two years on tv.
Eastbound and Down after that. You want something quick, easy, mindless, and insanely hilarious watch that.
So, Mad Men and Eastbound and Down.
Going to go Sopranos this winter. I will wait on Game of Thrones until it is done so I can watch from start to end and not have to wait for new episodes.

edit, how could i forget Marty Mcfly. Luke was a given for me
Oh yeah. One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Departed, Guardians of the Galaxy is amazingly funny.....

Damn how could I forget Errol Flynn. "Welcome to Sherwood" if you haven't read his autobiography its pretty interesting. It will change your perspective on old methods used in sheep ranches amongst other things....he certainly lived up to its title.

Once Upon a Time in the West, Fonda, Bronson, Robarts, Cardinally, amazing!
The Great Escape
Moby Dick, with Peck as Ahab.
Jaws, only the first one, Hitchcockian all the way, should have won Best Picture.
The Alamo, with John Wayne and Richard Widmark
How the West Was Won
Alien, only the first one, Hitchcockian all the way again!
The Towering Inferno
Bullitt, okay I like Steve McQueen, the War Lover is awesome also, but not quite for this list of bests.
Riding Giants, the only movie CD I own.

It takes a quiver to do that.

I'm not much of a repeat viewer, but movies I have liked and watched again:  North by Northwest, one of Hitch's best, The Birds, Hellraiser (I have a Pinhead T-shirt), an offbeat British sci fi film called Lifeforce.
