"Point Break" Remake

I finally got to see this on HBO on my 120 inch home theater in Pleasanton.

 Wow, it was a rolling absurdity from beginning to end as far as plot and credibility, but still beautiful and scary with all the extreme sports CGI.

I'm glad I didn't see it in IMAX 3D, it would have been terrifying with all the huge waves, free climbing, batfllying etc., it made me scared and giddy with my home theater.

The original was a better movie, but the remake was amazing spectacle.

You can't replace Patrick Swayze, just like you can't replace Charleston Hesston in "Big Hur", which I understand is tanking at the box office, besides in both movies, people know how they end.

But it's nice to know that somebody out there has a 120" TV!!!   I have a 42"er, but I'm happy.

To me that was on the list of “totally pointless remakes”. I'm not against them if the remake has something interesting to say. I think the remake of The Thing is amazing (and scary as hell), but it's a very different movie than the original.

I thought it really, really, really sucked. Poor acting, crap writing, the typical kind of dreck Hollywood cranks out. HBO and other cable/internet venues are eating their lunch. Better writing and acting, better stories.

I still love movies for their purely visual quality.  I am a freak who will sit in the front rows with the kiddies so that the screen totally envelops me.

I really wanted to like this movie, but it was a let down.  I got pumped up by seeing all the previews and the behind the scenes footage, but that ended up being better than the actual movie.

Come on Tom, you prefer huge Tahitian waves over waist high County Line? The original was filmed at a ton of the beaches that we hit up here. Always makes me laugh when they paint it as "extreme"
