Different strokes for different folks.

Did I just say that?
It takes a quiver to do that.

Universally true Bro. People who have never tried something saying it sucks. How stupid. But then there's a lot of stupid going around.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Some core kayakers around here won't have anything to do with sup period, and slam the sport.

I'll never understand people like this. It's like saying "I like broccoli, everyone should like broccoli, if you like cauliflower better you're a loser." Sad people.

Yeah, the guys I'm referring to are actually down to earth and nice dudes, but are current/former kayak guides with a little bit of that old school charge hard-aggro mentality, which perpetuates standup as being a sport for old people or females who want to try yoga outside of a studio or whatever. I've talked to some kayakers who have gotten into surfing river waves and running rapids on a sup to consider down winding or just getting out in conditions on one of the lakes. It got their interest when I mentioned the swell can get overhead on Kootenay lake. Some guys just want the adrenaline, and I get that, but it is a bit sad to slam the touring aspect, or any discipline of the sport.

The art is to not convince.
When he goes surfing, you go and bring your sup, catch all the waves you can, have a great day and let him prone surf until he's had his fill.  As far as ART goes, let him appreciate you, and that you're out there having a blast and hanging out with him. This is very attractive.

Then go have a beer. ;)

I always thought the charge hard agro mentality encouraged trying new stuff (watch this...hold my beer). Isn't charging some rapids on a SUP more difficult/challenging than in a kayak? Maybe tell them you understand why they don't want to try since they are getting old, soft, and afraid..... ;)

Yeah, you could always tell him to stand up and be counted.

Did I just say that also?
It takes a quiver to do that.

That's not very persuasive.

Mental Judo is like that.  I've spent my share of time on the mat looking up at my wife wondering what just happened.  ???
My art skills are akin to glued macaroni sculptures, but I know when an artist is at work.  :)
