Ride, Track, Relive, Improve.
Trace tracks speed, jumps, turns, calories and auto edits action footage. All from one device.

looks cool.

Search Beasho's threads. Pretty cool.

Also, Surfline here in LA is going to start using the date from surfers to adjust their models. We're about to see the science of forecasting get crazy. Live updates from the beach (or at least near live).

I love these things.

I use it every session (I am a Trace Scout).  Very useful for things like ride distance, ride time, paddle distance, max speed, degree rotation on turns etc.

Love this device. Got it for my birthday in Feb and it's really interesting for comparing different fin setups and other mods.  Also fun capturing speed & distance and some of the offshore reefs on a big board.

Can you install this without attaching an adhesive mount?

OW - I think it's the same thing. There's some posts about the Rip Curl watch too but I like having it mounted ont he board and not having anything to distract me in the water.

IS - yes this installs with the adhesive mount and you can buy a 3 pack for different boards in your quiver.

TRACE:  Loved it but they have to get their strategy figured out.

Oh look it's Rincon.  Who wouldn't want more people at Rincon?

This does NOT appear to be a good idea  >:(

It's a crappy idea, and it's why I quit using mine. They don't even ask if you want to participate. Oh, look, we have cool data. Let's misuse it.

I changed my user name on TRACE to "Hunter Sterling" for fear that my local friends would ever see me radiating local surf statistics on the Interweb

Add to this any videos that I made were automatically uploaded to Youtube with my user name.  All the poorly synch'd footage looked like crap and I didn't want my real name associated with any BAD video quality stuff.

Hunter Sterling was the name on the ID I used to buy beer when I was 18.

I never thought to make up a pseudonym. I manufactured ID's for other kids. Ten bucks each. Good little business until I got ratted out when a guy got caught. Massachusetts licenses could be copied with just photocopy paper and some press-down letters and lines.  The Boston Public Library had a photostat machine that made copies for $.25. I could make about ten licenses from one copy. Of course the machine was close to the librarian, so subterfuge was called for.

I had some interest in this until this "data sharing" came to light.  So no way to turn this feature off ?   No more secret spots with the internet.
I wanted it more for my ski touring and windsurfing,   thought a speedometer and odometer would be cool.
