2016 14x28 allstar downwind
« on: July 02, 2016, 10:21:43 AM »
Word on the street is that the 28" allstar is a different board than the narrower versions as it has downwind specific features. Has anyone actually tried one downwind? Can you make any comparisons to other downwind boards? Thanks!

Not tried on a DW - but only in about 5 kts short up down on a demo day.  Felt super stable for a 28.  My wife tried it too.  Upwind it felt slow - but DB it went fine.  Even in the very light breeze it glided along nicely.

The more breeze the better for sure for that board.  Completely different concept to the slender nosed M-14 and stub nosed Bullet 14V2.

Just getting a feel for our 23 AS - and seeing how it handles cross wind.  And even with the bulging boof it is doing ok in light winds.  Would probably really have to man-handle the 28 around in a stiff breeze I would imagine.  But DW in 20-30 kts it should really go.   :)

There's a guy on Seabreeze who has one....likes it loads. It is a big board so you would need to b a big guy to get the best of it IMHO.

Ha!  You will probably love a big board.  Both my wife and I love riding big volume boards.  It seems to make it a lot easier to balance on for us interestingly.

You will probs have a blast on that thing down there.  Have a ton of fun!
