I only wear booties when it is pretty cold.

I wore my O'neill surf booties but noticed my feet
got cold from the evaporative cooling effect.  In fact,
I felt my feet would have been warmer without the booties.

Then, I found some O'Neill Gooru Tech ST 3MM Booties
(luckily on sale at their outlet).
They have a "Liquid rubber sealed exterior" so their
is no evaporative cooling like most other boots.

They are very flimsy - feel like slippers, which I like.
- not sure how much protection if you stepped on something sharp,
but better than barefeet.

The only drawback is they are very difficult to get on and off.

I am a cold water Sup surfer. Need warm booties 9 months of the year, tight fitting and can be difficult to get on and off. I have found that if I put bee's wax (Chaphans salad bowel wax........yes I am a wood worker) on my heels prior to putting the boots on it makes it simple to get on and off. I have not noticed any deliterious effects on the rubber and great to soften foot callus.    :)
