Fin Setup
« on: April 13, 2016, 06:45:16 AM »
We've had clean conditions lately, which means I've spent a lot more time on the 8"8" board. I typically surf that board with a quad fin setup, which works great in chest high + waves. It's a bit sluggish in smaller surf so today I tried a twin fin setup. The twin setup was great on the wave, but difficult paddle and get into waves due to excessive movement and a bit of instability.

Not sure if I just need more time / practice with the twin setup of if I should get a stubby center fin to help the board track / paddle better.

Would appreciate any insights.

Unless the rear set of plugs are really far back try putting the fins in the rears. Running a quad as a twin can be tricky in some boards.
