Sunova SUP Demo on Long Beach Island
« on: December 16, 2015, 07:07:44 PM »
Great Sunova demo I experienced w/supthecreek, kliss, and pabst. We Scored! Quite fortunate to have had a really good videoographer shooting this morning. I dumped all my GoPro files onto his laptop and he integrated some of the clips into his excellent edit. He used one of my jams for the soundtrack too!

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

That video was eye popping sharp on my monitor.

Looked great, even a bit of "warts and all" with the smack downs.

lol...indeed that was Creek pile driving for cover! That wind was devil when it kicked in. We were fortunate to catch it for like an hr w/only moderate offshores. This is my first wave that morning and not a drop of water outa place. The 9'2" Flow...LOVE that board! I have to give "Best Left on the Day" to pabst though. They were tough to find w/the steep south we were having.
Thanx stoney, slatch, cheat, and eastie for watching!

Ha ha... that wind got stupid strong.... it was actually funny! ;D ;D
You could hardly paddle into it, so takeoffs became very late.... in that "dive" shot, the wind stopped my body, like hitting a wall.
I wasn't even moving, so I just fell over, and dove right, to keep the board from blowing into me ;D

The 1st hour was really fun, we were all giving the boards a good test.

I started on the 9'5 Soul because the Speeed & Flow were attracting the most interest.

Unfortunately, my first 2 waves on the Soul were not caught on film.
My 1st wave was the best wave I got all day... it was late, steep, and had good size....
the Soul was very crisp through the drop and bottom turn and .... I was more than a little surprised, that I made the long steep wall to a clean exit inside.
Much faster than I expected and solid under pressure.

I am excited to surf the Soul some more.... it paddled straight & easily, with good glide.
The 9'5 Soul feels just about right for me in winter gear
I didn't get to compare the Soul vs Flow in these waves, because the wind blew up, before we got to swap around all the boards.

Too bad that Ken didn't get to try the 8'10 Speeed.... it is much more his size, than the 9'5 ... heck, The 9'5 Speeed, is even bit big for me in winter (9'2 is probably perfect)

Jack is a super nice guy.... so glad he was there to shoot the video and took the time to make such a professional movie :)
I'll be back to the Island again..... very good vibe with these boys!

Hey, I got your first on my GoPro w/the paddle mount! Def nice being able to shoot other riders w/the paddle. Edited these frames a bit too for a bit of zoom in! I was sooo stoked seeing you stroke into that perfect right!
