Surfing a fun Baja Reef, 3 mo. anniversary SUP'ing
« on: November 02, 2015, 12:21:48 PM »
Here's day one of my 2 days at Raul's, a fun little Baja reef. Easy waves, good weather, nice people. 3 months and one week ago, I was rolling around underwater screaming in pain from trying to surf normal surfboards with my old back injuries. Now pain-med free and having days like this. Was really happy to get a ride to a more friendly wave with the northwest direction. Still (!) sick, I edited out the coughing parts. This is shot with a GoPro sent from NoSaltSuper. Man, thank you so much! You, Wetstuff and Robert from Blue Planet Surf have helped me so much with equipment, and more importantly, the spirit behind it, that an old, worn-out thrasher like myself can dream of more good days ahead. And thanks to all the other Zoners who communicate and help so regularly.

Awesome Feral!

Those are the best waves that camera has ever seen, I surf on a lake after all.

Look forward to many more videos.

Looks like a blast!
What's the water temp down there?  Hotter than hell up here (so Cal). No wetsuits for me unless I develop an fondness for heat stroke.

SlatchJim! What's up? Water temp. 72° I have a fullsuit on cause I've been so sick for a month and I usually surf so early the air's a little cold for my never-ending flu. The fullsuit was way too hot. Spring suit the next day totally warm/comfy. Trunking it is a good call here if not sick.

SWEEEEEEEEEEET!

THOROUGHLY enjoyed that Feral (aka Major Tom).  I was expecting a kick out catapult over the backside at one of the songs "4, 3, 2, 1..."  boom out of the cannon!  Hah!  Love those cutbacks.....I need to take serious note!

Thanks for making a great end to an otherwise typical day!

Very cool!!!!!

Look forward to the next one!

Great vid feral.... thanks!

You are certainly ahead of where most of us were after a mere 3 months!

I am glad you hitched a ride to a sweet reef for the day.... keep the vids coming.

Kudos to all the Zoners who shared their stoke. :)

Great to see Raul's again. Back in the mid 80's I used to drive down there from San Diego at least a couple of times a week to surf or windsurf there. Thanks for sharing.

Me too, spent a lot of summer days there windsurfing. I spent the weekend at a beach house last weekend in La Mision. Drove the coast looking for surf on Saturday and checked out Raul's. It was very crowded so we looked some more.

NICE! That includes the surfing, ride to the surfing, the video of the surfing, and your gratitude towards the gracious donors. Great to see you hitting some easier waves and getting complete rides finally! Suggestion...try a paddle mount. Message me your address, I have an Amazon giftie that has your name on it! I'll order you one! Paddle mount is THE best pov for sup, well my fav anyways...bit tricky to get right though. Swing weight can get to you after a while so it's a good idea to start out w/the pm and then after a while pop it on the nose.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

That's so cool that sup surfing has you off the pain meds!
