Launching from Green Harbor and head for Plymouth Beach, grab the edge of browns on the way....going to be HUGE out there with some deep troughs on the outgoing tide.

Is that a reliable run on a Northeast blow? Good stretch of distance.

You have to paddle out a bit at the start but the launch is easy from behind the jetty. It's better NNE than NE until you get past the gurnett, then its a straight NE run. Never been out there when it's looking this big though except for at Plymouth beach in  Warren Cove.....nucking futs in there but loads of fun.

forecasts for heavy wind down here this am were wrong--glassy chest/head high aframes on Long Beach cams. no crowd at all. amazing how the forecasts herd us around.

seaweed shows "current conditions" as blowing hard in the 20's, and the cam shows glass. bunk

i will try to get there this afternoon, and tomorrow afternoon

Somedays they are so far off you wonder how they ever get it right. They actaully do a much better job for known areas though. I got magic seaweed to add Plymouth Beach to their list. For a long time they had it located wrong (at Duxbury Beach) not far off but an important distinction and when there were waves they almost never had them forecast. They get it right most of the time (because its often flat) but I've gone down expecting a flatwater paddle and found head high glass. These days I just look at whats going on and figure it out myself if there is likely to be waves there. I don't think the models they are using incorporate enough localized effects...certainly not in Plymouth. Everywhere else I just call creek.... :)

LI has been very very fun all week... Friday is 4-6 but with 20-25mph offshores....we will see if my arms and a paddle can defeat nature into those faces...

No Jersey--don't trust the wind forecast for tomorrow--today was sposed to be mid high 20 knots--it's glass as we speak--same with tuesday and yesterday pm--too late for me to get to LB now, but i am hopeful about tomorrow afternoon.

stoney--i check seaweed, surfline, and swellinfo, in the hopes that i'll get a decent read--today they all had it wrong--and seaweed is still posting their forecast as current condition (20 knots plus offshore) and it's glass on the cam--not sure why they cant accurately post current conditions--have to be plenty of live stations they can patch into for current

here's long beach right now (757am ny time) small but smooth and very redeable:

http://thesurfersview.com/live-beach-cams/long-island-ny/west-end-long-beach-ny

seaweed links this very cam, and right below it, shows current conditions consistent with what they forecast, 27 knots with >gusts----bunk--it's been this way all week but for a few hours of angry slop monday

keeps the crowds away, bu tought for those like me who work and live 50 mins drive away

hope to slip out of office early enough to get an afternoon/evening session--depends how bets on employment report play out--and if victory at sea moves to my theatre or not

Pretty windy up here in Rhode Island.  I got out for dawn patrol yesterday for a couple of hours and though it was blowing pretty stiff offshore was one of my favorite sessions of the year.  Big sets and small crowds  ;D  Wind picked up by the evening when i got back out again and the swell had dropped and the wind picked up so it was pretty tough paddling into waves.  Wind is around 20mph today and I didn't feel like battling the cold, wind and rain so I took a break this morning but saw a few SUPs on their way down while I was driving to the office.  Looks like winds are going to keep picking up today and through the weekend - hoping there's a bit of a lull at some point...

 Hope you guys find some.
Joaquin doesn't really to show until tomorrow ...current waves are frontal
I'm hunting the right wind, and you guys are looking for shelter....Sunday afternoon should be lightest, with the understanding that by then  swell will be something like 3.5 @ 15 (meaty)
There will be some E to the NE...I guess you could tuck into Newport or some other cliff-like spot.  You might find some doable upper teens.....Stronger winds east and north in SE New England
front could wobble and make it great or suck...I'm pumped to sail some size again...think a paddle gives you a boost?...a pull on the boom on a side off-face is a supercharger :)

   Be safe out there..
