They have been "teasing" that for years now. Build it already.

For that price range $25k-$35k, I would think Zoners might go old school and spend the money one a true older VW Bus.

johnny--if your wife has a diesel, there's a good chance she will get a full refund or serious concession from vw.

totally unbelievable that this happened.

wow just saw the news, not a good day for VW  lost over a quarter of their market value today $17 billion for violating US EPA laws.

while I do like the concept car and always loved their classic vans, I 'd say VW has a lot more to think about now than their surf van.  It's gonna take a lot to regain America's trust of their cars and company

Henderson Global is spinning this as an industry-wide happening and other manufacturers will likely be pulled in.

I'm thinking buying opportunity...er ah, or selling opportunity...

Pretty sure thats only going to be available in Europe.

The older ones are very cool but only practical if you never see a hill or don't have to outrun a tractor.

I love a bunch of 1950-1979 American made vehicles especially trucks. But Europe and Asia kick our A$$ in all recent years. Ya, we have a resurgence in the muscle car but they have so many cool and useful daily drivers (vans, trucks, crossovers) made available to them only it makes my head spin.

Nice. Im looking at getting one for the winter months while my '72 Chevy is in storage. Slap some snows on it. Not looking for anything special just has to have solid body, run well and have a working heater. Real nice ones can be had from Cali for 7-10K. And theres plenty of them. I know they are super peculiar regarding maintenance. Thats the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger.

It's between this van and a late 50's roadster. The roadster might be cheaper? Better go buy a lotto ticket:)

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Old VW's are easy to maintain. Some of the parts for funny stuff like thermostatic idler for the wanky carbs is getting hard to get, but general engine parts are relatively cheap. If you can't wrench on a VW then you shouldn't be allowed to have tools.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

If you don't know how to wrench when you buy an old V-dub, you will by the time you're done owning it.

Thermostatic idler? WTF is that?! That must've been before my time. Electric choke that closes when it's cold?

I've owned several of them, drove them for more than 10 years, including a 1965 6-volt Bug, a 1970 Karman Ghia, and a Squareback that I put dual downdraft Webers on. Syncing those carbs was a total PITA. They'd vacuum perfect and be out of adjustment after 200 miles.
