Scanned Picture Help

I have a picture, as in an actual frameable picture.  I scanned it onto a USB drive and then loaded it onto my laptop.  It shows as a scanned photo.  I can't get it changed so I can then share it or put in in my photo album.
How can I do this?

Do you mean that you didn't take the picture out of the frame before you scanned it?

What is the file extension? Is it showing up as a jpg file in windows explorer? If it shows as a scanned photo your scanner software may have saved it with a different extension and if your laptop has the same software it might recognize it and show it also. What happens when you double click the picture? Does it open up the scanner photo editing software or does it just open a preview window? If you right click on the file and go to properties you can see the details of the file and see what software is set as the default to open it. You'll need to get it saved as a jpg file or another common format to share it on most cloud services like Flickr or Photobucket. Once you have it in an online photo service you can generate links to share it. If you want to post it directly here you need to reduce the jpg file size to under 1000KB

I use a Mac.  It just opens in the preview window.  Double clicking does the same.

I haven't used a Mac in years but can't you open it in iPhoto? Once you have it open you can play and see what might fix it. I'd wait for a fellow Mac user to chime in though.

It isn't in iPhoto and I can't figure out how to get it in iPhoto.

First find the file's extension type:

HB, if you scanned the picture the extension may be in PDF format depending on how you have the program configured - or how it default scans.  If that is the case simply use Preview to export and save as a JPG and you should be able to share it and put it into iPhoto.  See if that does it for you.
