What a ripper kid. Tengo celos (jealous...) Jajaja! I googled that he's riding 24" wide boards and weighs 170. Gonna "opine" in board size thread. I tried one of those "duck dives" after seeing a vid of Kai Lenny do one, he seemed pretty stoked on it, so what the hell, right? A wave about a foot smaller than Kieran's duck dive, maybe a foot overhead, but way hollower. I got pitched!!! I fear that when I start the vid thing, I'll have some cool tube-rides, cutbacks, etc., but I'll be best known for my ability to get freakishly pitched trying weird stuff. Jajaja! 7 weeks SUP'ing and try to stand-up duck-dive overhead surf. Perfect recipe for clownish beatdown!!! Jajaja! It was fun, partly cause I knew beforehand it was ludicrous. I promise to leave some of 'em in the edits, or maybe a blooper reel. It's the least I could do, given how cool you've all been.

Sweet vid...such smooth lines and great paddle use. Love the funk of massive attack as background.

170 pounds. Geez. I'd need amputation to weigh that. I was 260 at age 15. I weigh 20 pounds less now.

I've got a geezer version of that duck dive going. I "invented" it by accident on the Columbia River where I discovered that I could hold the nose of my L41 under water by just shifting my weight forward--no foot movement. It lets me go backwards in the current. But the wide, flat nose gets shoved up hard when I punch over a steep wave face on the paddle out when I'm surfing. So I tried the forward weight shift at the base of the waves, and it worked like a charm. With the width of the L41 I don't get as much water over me as Keiran does, but I punched through some stuff I would never have made it over--the L41 almost does a loop over my head if I don't duck it.

It's board-specific for me though. I tried it on the Foote and never got to see where the board went. Might get better with practice, but the two times I tried felt totally hopeless.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Too deep with the foote and it will create a vortex as it sucks everything down.... ;D. You have to be aimed up with the foote.

I wouldn't know, the board disappeared like some kind of magic trick.
