Does this 'new kind of bike' look helpful to us?
« on: April 08, 2015, 07:39:15 AM »

The first sentence/two are true, but the part about 'balance and reflexes' caught my eye...

"We believe happiness has something to do with playing and having fun. And that includes going out and being active. So, we set out to create a new vehicle to awaken your natural instinct to move. A vehicle that trains your balance and reflexes in a completely new way. One that disconnects you for a moment from your daily routine and allows you to focus solely on your body and the ride itself."

Kickstarter campaign for about $400.

It's interesting, but I can't see it being anything more than a novelty unless they figure out how to make it lighter and give it the ability to fold to an even more compact size. Thanks for sharing.

Hmm, I bought a Razor scooter to deal w/ on-street parking when I lived in the city (long walk to/from car, to home).
It took awhile to accept that I was a fully-morphed adult male riding thru town on a kids' scooter.
That thing looks orders of magnitude more embarassing.  And at least the razor folded flat and was cheap.  :D

OH!......that was you?........snicker, snicker..... ;)

I used to see a guy on a motorized longboard skateboard in downtown all the time. That actually looked pretty cool. I was behind him on line at a dunks one time and asked him about it. He had built it himself......it had disc brakes in the rear and would do 25-30 on a flat road.

When I was young, many, many, many moons ago, I decide my banana seat on my schwinn was too uncool - so I removed it, and rode the sting-ray sans seat. Occasionally, my feet would slip off the pedals.

Disaster.

Each time.

Oh, the humanity......

Must have sustained head injuries, because I didn't put it back or come up with a seat for over a year. I did have very strong legs, tho'.

Looks a little half-assed to me. If I were building something like that I'd replace the pedals with floorboards, like an elliptical workout machine. there's a bike like that, but it's stupid-looking. Rotating pedal movement is an efficient compromise between standing and sitting, especially when you use pedal clips and pull as well as push. If you're going to stand, an elliptical with mostly vertical movement would be more efficient.

Those dinky little wheels in the back look nutty too. A bottle cap would stop them.

There are so many iterations.....

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

T-D,  That looks like a vertically extended version of the 'chimp' bike I bought my son when he was about six. Compared to Mud's Schwinn, at least this couple would have option of intimacy at the end of their ride.  I guess I'll stick to my skates and 8-speed.

I'll be honest, it looks like a pretty half baked concept.  Seems to lose all the mechanical advantages of a normal bike.  More toy less utility.

No, pretty sure the moustache killed any chance of that.  ???

What about the stigo?  Absolutely no exercise benefit  + adult training wheels.  Win-win..
