With all the surf comps on stand ups consisting mostly of lightweights on sub 100 liter boards lately, it is a breath of fresh to hear that they are holding 10 foot plus surf contests Down Under.

Seems like a great idea. I hope it catches on.

Yeah! My King's Crocodile is exactly 10 feet. But I have retired from contest surfing..

A step in the right direction.  I'd like to see more like this.  Not just simply using boards over 10 feet but where the riders are actually required to do longboard style moves.  Cross stepping, nose riding, soul archs, etc.    Still dig watching the short boarders too though.  Riders like Daniel Hughes, the Vaz brothers, Mo Frietas.  Perhaps in the future there will be actual divisions that separate shortboard and longboard.

That's a great video.... the Aussies do a good job keeping longboards in the conversation.

I consider my longboard SUPs a perfect partner to my shortboard SUPs... riding either/or can get stale, having both is a gift. I don't like one more than the other.... like kids... you love them all the same.

I'd love to see some 10+ SUP contests around my area, but if not, I will enjoy the Aussie flix of theirs

Fun stuff. Quite a few longboard shapes in there and some good riding.

Not a SUP but I just picked up a 10' Ukulele Drifter not 45 minutes ago. I am stoked on some noseriding this summer.

Creek and Biggie, we should talk to Chaser about adding a longboard SUP class to this years CCBC SUPaThon event in Wellfleet !!

They should just simply change the judging criteria to include the paddle out as well as the ride.  That would get the board size up.  This years Pipeline Watermans SUS contest was funny to watch.  The best guys in the  world and they could hardly balance on their boards because they were so small.  Looked a little lame to me... Until they caught the wave!
