I'm the nob.... what is downwind?

I assume it's going with the wind from one point to another (one way) but i just want to make sure since i am new to this SUP world. 

What exactly is "downwind" with regard to SUP?

You are absolutely correct, simple as that.   
But going back can be a bitch, so try to avoid that.

to be a little more precise, it's distance paddling going with the wind and usually with the swells. You park one car a few miles downwind. take the second and run up the coast. toss your boards in and head for the second car.

Probably the most famous downwind run is Malko Gulch to Kahalui harbor here on Maui. People do it all the time, not just on SUPs, it's a popular canoe trip as well.
