Here is my summer rig for 'Very Local' trips to the lake.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

She might be young but she is strong.  She is doing all the carrying on this day.

That is a real Volvo! I have had a 122S (Twin carb Sedan) The B18 Engine can go on forever. Just change oil every 10 000km and use Volvo oem filters. Do not save money on the filters. Those engines can take you around the world several times and look brand new inside! Highly tunable too!  ;D

Congratulations

It is handy that I am a short drive from IPD.  ;D
Someone converted it to a single Weber carb but I am hoping to swap back once I have the extra spending money. That and to put in the M41 I picked up for it. For daily drivers we have newer Volvo's (740's and 940) . I love how long they run and how inexpensive they are to keep on the road

I am impressed. I suspect it wouldn't take me long to dump the load. Is it as top-heavy as it looks?

Yeah, me too. I've found thinking about baseball helps somewhat.

Wait, are we talking about the same thing here??   :o

M41? That's the overdrive isn't it? If it is then it'll be great for highways! And by the way. 740 and 940 are the last real sturdy Volvos made.

Got the rack built for our trip.

Not the best on gas but luckily I only have to travel a mile or two to many beaches on Cape Cod.

I just added a speed rail removable bed frame to my Sprinter.  My boards fit nicely underneath.

Fits up to 8'5" inside. Two of them, if the fins are removed. Never had surf racks on any car.

I started putting racks on my "common" looking cars after I tried getting into the wrong VW squareback many many years ago. Now there are so many white Volvo's having racks makes finding mine much easier in the parking lot. Especially since it's lowered.  ;)

I take it you surf alone mostly?  ;)

I surf with whomever is out there. But yes, it's just me. During the test drive, I told the salesperson that I'd need to see if my board fits inside.   Anything for a sale.

I got the 6'6" riding shotgun.

I'm very surprised it fits up there. Isn't it 34" wide?
