Car Talk's Tom Magliozzi dies at 77
« on: November 03, 2014, 01:49:28 PM »
Tom and Ray's Show Car Talk gave me countless hours of entertainment.  They were "Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers" brilliant, real, funny and informative.  So many tears of laughter from their show.  Now a few tears of sadness.  Rest in peace Tom.

Their show will continue as reruns.

You are right there.... great natural, wholesome humor. I listened to them last Saturday... funny guys, that sounded strong and healthy, I never would have guessed he was 77.

See ya Tom.... thanks for the smiles  :D  :'(

I'm heartbroken. Always listened to them regularly. Genuinely warm hearted, clever, funny guys.  Definitely a loss.

Interesting, complications from Alzheimer's.  Maybe it wasn't just a running gag when his brother would open the bit by saying, "Remember last week's "Puzzler"?"  Hard to believe though.  Both those guys are sharp as tacks.

That dude has really lived on hell of a full and intersting life, though.  If ever there was ever someone who'd say, "Don't cry for me when I'm gone", it would be that guy.

"And remember, don't drive like my brother."

Sorry to hear. They both we such a team with wicked warm wit. I believe they were that way away from the mike. I will miss them laughing with each other.

Faithful listener for years. Sometimes twice a weekend. Was so bummed when their show finally ended.

Sorry to hear the news.

Always brought a smile or laugh to the day.

I listen to WBUR a lot. They've been telling the story of the start....Tom was the only garage mechanic that showed up when WBUR asked 6 to come in and do a single show. They liked it and asked if he would come back and he asked if he could bring his brother. 1st two years it was volunteer...then they got paid $20 each.... :D  They've had a bunch of great snippets from the show on this morning. His laugh will live on forever.

Strange path for an MIT grad with a PhD in marketing.

RIP Tom
