Some board makers spackle the EPS blanks before the glassing starts so it won't suck up as much resin. Do you guys do that?

Hope this doesn't get called out as spam since I have no affiliation with the company. If you're still looking to purchase, Jamestown Distributors is running a free shipping special for >$50 orders until 4/4.

That makes it ~$139.00 out the door for 25 yards of 6oz glass 50" wide or ~128 for 25 yards 38: wide. I way thinking this was S-glass but when I double checked, I didn't see it specified. Perhaps someone else can confirm.

Thought I'd ask this question again...

Some board makers spackle the shaped EPS blank before glassing so it won't suck up as much resin. Do you guys spackle your shaped blank before glassing? Is there any downside to doing that? For example, does spackling make the bond weaker and maybe more prone to delamination later?

You can go either way.  Just make sure to sand after spackle if you go that route.

You should seal the blank. Spackle or epoxy and micro balloons. Every step after that is easier with a sealed blank, right up to the hot coat. Smoother, less pin air.

If in doubt, just do the epoxy micro balloons. It's the sure thing.

DW - Do you still recommend epoxy + microballoons to seal the blank even when you are painting the blank with acrylic paint? How thick do you make the goop and what do you apply it with? What grit sandpaper should I use to sand it when dry?

Thanks.
