Wow, you kooks! Paddle out straight to the point, right in front of everyone else that has been waiting, and proceed to flail your paddle for the set wave. Funny how kooks like you guys gravitate to the popular trend. Take your paddles and shove em up each others a$$e$ STAND UP CLOWNS AKA OARONS!

Can't say I would disagree, if that is what the individual is doing, but there is nothing saying a proner couldn't be just as guilty. A bozo is a bozo.

I have heard of stink eye, this must be registration to engage in stink web, har har!

At our beaches, proner bozos by far outnumber the standup bozos. They're just not as easy to see.

It's understandable why someone who has been surfing all their life might want to hold on to the traditional ways, but for the life of me, I can't understand why anyone new to the sport would choose to take up laydown surfing over standup surfing.

I've had some SUPpers do that to me and I don't like it.

But I see a lot more of the better prone surfers do the exact same thing - actually even worse,
-- they paddle the shortest route, back right through the line up, back to the peak so they can hog the waves, which they do.

Anyone doing what you are describing deserves your ridicule!  This person would get ridicule from most of us too.  There a lot of us "OARONS" who strive to be good citizens in the lineup and would be just as angry with such a person as you are.  Sounds like your spot must have a lot of jerk SUP riders, I'm sorry about that.

I was SUP surfing several times near a group of half a dozen prone surfers. It seemed like I was getting as many rides on my huge board than the entire group of short-boarders. Yes, the waves were small, so wouldn't that imply a change of equipment?

Tim,
I bet you have had more longboarders drop in on you, get in the way, paddle through the line up, by a 10 fold margin over SUP's.
And if you ride a longboard, what the hell are you thinking?
Why longboard when you can stand up?  3 reasons, #1- Wave Count, #2- Wave Count, #3 Wave Count
I shortboard when conditions are good for that, but I haven't touched my longboard in two years.
If you have a problem with an individual, whether he is on a short, long or sup, deal with it in the line up.
When I see an sup hogging, getting in the way, or just doing something not right, I say something to them, cause they give us surfers who are respectful of the line up, a bad name.

I overheard a proner talking to someone at the beach last weekend and heard the proner explaining that the tradition of surfing is deep rooted and spiritual and how the standup surfers are just wannabe surfers that can't "really" surf. I started laughing loud enough so they heard me and by the the looks of my xterra w 2 SUPs on the roof it was pretty clear where my loyalty was. I asked him how many waves he got that mornibg and he didn't answer as he saw me fly by him on at least 10x more waves than he got.
