Getting back in thru shore pound - how do you do it?

I had a revelation the last time out:  rather than let go of the board and have it take a beating on the sand - I held the tail down with a Sam's Handle I put on the tail and let the wave wash over the deck (like getting getting caught inside - outside) ..then quickly picked up the tail and hauled it up onto the sand.  Needs more testing, but it worked yesterday.

I'll be honest Creek some of my favorite spots have a nice think kelp 'Chop Comb' and once I'm finned for it and chart the course, it's a blessing.
