Follow up on the previous one - this one shows how Pro-kiteboarder Nick Jacobsen got some of the aerial footage on a 30knot day.

Lose, as in break? Getting in through Small Bay can get technical on the bigger days and to date I think one or two have ended up on the rocks and one guy snapped his board getting caught in a set.

The novices tend to stay clear of the bigger days and you can always do the chicken run through Big Bay which entails riding a 15ft face from the back until it closes out and spits you out...but by then you are virtually safe....

That sounds pretty sketchy sometimes..I was actually thinking about how difficult it could be carrying a board out of the water by yourself... I could picture a board cartwheeling down the beach..(I recall someone here on the zone posting a video of their board blowing away... )

You Cape Towners sure have a good thing going..you're very lucky.
Thanks again for taking time to make some really nice videos...

It's sort of rare to get waves like it is in the pictures but the wind is an issue and we do most times assist the ladies in getting their boards out. Most learn the "Crouch over, one hand on deck and other in the handle - crab-walk" to and from the beach - especially after the first visit to the ding-repairman.

When we race no-one is allowed to leave their board on the beach so you have to cross the line with board in hand as they would otherwise be cartwheeling down the beach taking out all and sundry while the champions are sprinting for line-honours.....

Overall though I rate this as one of the easiest and safest downwind runs; you never get blown out to sea, it's a sandy put in and take out and the wind is straight in your back the entire way. Maliko, even without waves, is less beginner friendly.

Nice one Peter!

This run is easy and a lot of fun.  Definite bucket list item when winds are 40+ and Small Bay closing out...

these videos are great, certainly a production, seems like a lot of people involved to get these shots. There has to be some kind of escort with you guys? a ski? boat?

and thanks for not using that stupid helmet spinny thing too much. That has to be the worst camera angle ever created, I want to shoot the guy who came up with that idea.

Hahaha - I quite like the spinner, but you are right, too much of the same camera angle is what we try to avoid.

We had two guys (Nick and Maleen) shooting from the boat - Nick Jacobsen used his FS700 on the Monday and used a Gopro on a stick on his kiteboard on the Tuesday and then various gopro mounts collected over a few other days as well.

Really enjoyable Peter! Great edit... nice use of slo-mo and mutiple cameras.
Nick did a great job from his kite.... Fantastic stuff.

It looks like you folks have a blast in extraordinary conditions ;D
