6 Annoying things about SUP

LOL....I was waiting for a succint interpretation. I can see the point and agree with much of what was said but by the time I got near the end I kind of felt like adding..#7 Annoyed self elected gurus above it all. We seem to have a bunch of folks lately that have been saying you should enjoy it, but enjoy it my way..... .

I'd have a far more inclusive list of the things that annoy me..... .....excessive use of emoticons is one...

The #1 most awesome thing about SUP.......it's inclusiveness it's whatever you want it to be, however you choose to enjoy it...that's YOUR thing. I might cringe when I see a kiter turned SUPper with boardshorts outside his wetsuit but I don't call them out on it....

I take slight offense to that, haha, thats the river look! Only because wearing a PFD without boardshorts over a wetsuit makes it so much worse! Frightening even!

There's a simple reason for boardshorts over a wetsuit--both in SUP and kiting. There are perhaps 184 people in the world who look good in a wetsuit. If you're fat you look like an orca, if you're a lot fat you look like a giant sperm. If you're skinny you look like your stole your Dad's wetsuit--is there anything sadder than a wetsuit flapping in the breeze?. Whatever is wrong with you is exaggerated hugely. No big deal when you spend most of the time submerged, but on a SUP or a kite you're on display most of the time. The boardshorts is just a little interruption of the entire ensemble. A way to hide your monster package, or more likely, your huge ass.

Generally I think it should be a requirement. Like a tutu on a ballet dancing hippo. Might not really change the nature of what other people see, but it gives the hippo a lot of confidence.

I fell and slid down a steep bank while wearing neoprene fishing waders, tearing a small hole in the backside.

From now on its boardshorts over waders everytime.

I also wear out the bum of dress pants more quickly than the suit jacket as I sit while working. hmmm, maybe...

I'll second the wetsuit horrors... now that I'm in a 3/2... it's clinging like saran wrap... no very appealing from Mr. GoPros vantage point.... I was designing a fig leaf arrangement..... cuz boardshorts over a wettie is kooksville man!

I saw a guy out the other day at Kanaha that was wearing some kind of skin tight thin neoprene number with obviously nothing under it. It was scary as hell. His ass was bigger than mine and it was basically painted black. I can't unsee that. A pear of boardshorts would have spared me a lot of distress. I'll take Kooksville over giant cameltoe any day.

I like to think of cold water surfing as being allowed to walk around in public looking like a fat chorus boy in tights or hot pants, AND you have permission to pee yourself.
