Winter Water
« on: January 14, 2014, 03:39:40 PM »
Well that polar vortex froze everything up around here. It got so cold the river froze a good deal out from the launch site. No polar paddling around here.

I was then coming home from work today and the rather had changed. The air was in the 40s which created a beautiful dense fog on the river.

The first photo is a normal non-winter view of my launch site. The next two are from a few days ago. You can see the ice extending a couple of hundred feet out into the river. The next few are from the same site today with the fog enveloping everything. I'm especially fond of the photo with the seagulls standing on the ice.

I am jealous of you guys who get to paddle all year, but this scenery sure can be beautiful.

Nice! What contrast between seasons.

That contrast is the nice thing about the seasons. I'm not too fond of the cold though.

What are you paddling on these days? My experience with the carbon marlin has been singularly uneventful so far. I wonder if the 14 fort ASP is that different from the 12'6" carbon. Even hit a pole with no damage. But I do worry about the fin. Have paddled about six miles or so a few times when the surf has been flat. Crazy cold froze salt water haunts for a while as well!
Let it come to you..
