I have a Gravity Carve 43, need to make a stick for it. Picked up skating 4 years ago, after 2 years of no falls I was out carving the apron for my driveway and I caught a rock. Board stopped, I didn't. Tried to fall but did the semi splits. Hit the ground, couldn't move. Rolled over to get out of the road, the kids across the street ran over and started poking me with a stick to see if I was alive (4yo kids). After that I now stick to a paved walking trail.

Picked up a pool board for cheap, that didn't end too well.

Ouch! I keep waiting to catch a stone or hit my front wheels with the blade of my bigstick. Until then I ride free and barefoot!

We have a 7+ mile man made canal and a 22 mile bike path that is awesome for land paddling.

Another option is yoga. Great for balance, core, legs, shoulders, flexibility, and easy on the elbows.

After reading this thread-and some others in SUZ-, researching on Silverfish, retailers and longboard sites (tons of tech info), I went for it.
I've inline skated for years, in flats or slightly rolling paths. Wanted a skating discipline better related to sup surf, improve balance, work on my goofy -bad-side and have fun on non surf days. Not interested in the stick though.
Got a blem deal on a 43" dropped deck lb. Stable, easy push and soft grippy wheels, plus rad graphics ! (If I didn't look good at it, the board would help me) LoL !
Got what I wanted and more. Pushing on the weak side has been and adventure, very wobbly at first. Luckily, the circuits turned on and it's happening, on the skate and sup. My weak side surfing (goofy and backside) improving, stability at rest too.
Very satisfied with the workout and new abilities. Even learning to pump and turn on full squat grabbing the rail on the skateboard.
Staying on the flats, even inside a basketball court is plenty fun. No need for hilly scary runs.
In retrospective, it functions as any type of stability device, with the benefit that it works dynamic balance in a way that correlates well with surfing.
Where was I ? Should've done this earlier....

Dirtsurfers are not as practical as Carvers and all skateboard options you guys mentioned. You need a hill, and MUST protect your knees, elbows and head. But it's  the best off water workout I've tried so far. Much closer to surfing than a 4 wheel skateboard and very good for improving balance and lower body strength. (I never tried that with a paddle.)

They started making these in Australia but I think they are made in China now. Not that easy to find (at least in Brazil), but it's a lot of fun!
