Funny. Nice presentation.

Somewhat on topic - Honestly, I do not know why more people do not stand up in canoes (speaking flatwater). I was on a family trip to Michican last summer and found it much more comfortable to navigate though the lazy rivers/streams of upper Michigan standing up. I could see downstream better, obstacles underwater, paddle stronger. I guess all the same benefits I find in Flatwater SUP versus kayaking.  I see that surfing may just make Canoeing just that much more interesting.
I am glad I was on the right track.

former Portland mayor Bud Clark would agree with you. When I was windsurfing in the Willamette River about 1985 I'd run into Bud pretty often, standing in his canoe and paddling with a pole. He was a big advocate of the approach, and did it well--no paddle, just a long pole that functioned as a paddle when the water got too deep to hit bottom. I let him try my windsurfer once. I thought he was going to drown. I had to swim out and rescue him or he would have floated to Astoria...  ...with my windsurfer.

At least you got the mayor who was actually worth rescuing.

Spookini--that was pretty funny.  (Wanted to tell you that without attracting any attention, so though I'd hide it here in this response to PonoBill.)

That picture does show one Bad-Ass mofo. Pure relaxed confidence, a master at what he does. Love it! The pic has been naggingly reminding me of something all day and I just realized what it is. I truly mean this with utmost respect- he looks like a shaved bigfoot.

Kind of looks like an early Starby - flat rocker line, sunken deck, nice floaty, piercing canoe style nose, soft rails..... ;D

How do you think that dude would react to a 32 year old longboarder telling him to leave the area and that it was for surfers only?
