one sided paddling- that's pretty beastly.  Probably end up with ripped muscles on half your body, looking like an olympic c-1 paddler.  Even on a wider board, I'm an offset stance guy- helps me drive off my front foot and get more power like paddling in a sixman.

My second board last fall when I was just starting was a 9'-4" Walden Magic with a heavily domed deck. I paddled with my feet even with each other and spread as far apart as I could get em cuz thats what I thought I was supposed to do. That conventional stance on a domed deck board was awful cuz it made my ankles hurt having to bend all weird. I cursed that board then and even muttered to myself a few times that "there's no way that anyone actually paddled this board before sending it off to GSI to mass produce it! Now I paddle in more of a front foot forward semi "fighting stance" (still wide stance though cuz my deck is super flat) and with my newly adopted stance I can see how the domed deck wouldn't bother me and I'm sure its way better in the waves. No sense in having all that foam way out on the rails when you're surfing, eh?

Corran Addison / Mach 1- KEEP YOUR FEET HAPPY!

This will always be an ongoing debate.

What works best for me, at my ability level (which some can attest to), is to be in that staggered "surf stance" 100% of the time.  You need to move your feet anyways once you catch a wave, so just leave 'em like that and paddle hard!

That board of JeanG's is amazingly stable for it's width.  Corran really knows how to cram the volume right in the center of it.  I surfed it once as a quad and was looking for more bite.  JeanG say's it works quite well as a thruster.  ;)

You mean the debate is between whether to paddle front foot forward all of the time or only when you're paddling for a wave? I much prefer now to have my front foot forward all of the time now.
