Duck, NC area surf lessons?

Hello Zone. I'm heading to Duck, NC in June and I am looking for some standup surfing instruction - if such a thing exists.  I've looked at the websites and it appears that what they are offering is a little too basic for me.

I've been stand up surfing for 3 years now and I'll being my own board.  What I'm looking for is footwork and wave catching coaching in decent waves, and starting to progress beyond "down the line" rides.

If you have been SUP surfing for three years, I am not sure you need lessons in that area. I have only been SUP surfing for 2 years and am fine on the summer OBX waves. Give Tim Nolte a call though if you like as he is by far the SUP surfing expert in the Kitty Hawk/Duck area and most days is SUP surfing with us - great guy and he has given me some great pointers while on the water.  http://www.timnoltesurfboards.com/ - yes, I also ride one of his SUPs....awesome shaper! Stop by his shop on your way to Duck - he'll likely be there, unless there are waves  Lost of SUP surfers in that area - often as many SUP surfers in the water as prone.

Thanks.  I will look him up.  When I think about my SUP surfing experiene, it is probably more like flailing for 2.5 years, surfing for .5... maybe less.  I'm hoping someone can help me get to the point where I am consistently catching waves, in control, and carving back and forth rather than just cruising down the line.

Funny to see Duck, NC mentioned in the zone, I'm writing a fictional book and the main character spends some time in Duck. It will probably never see the light of day, but it's fun writing it.

At your stage I'd book a costa rica trip with the guys from Infinity.  Outside of Duck, they're your best friend.  Inside a Duck, it's too dark to surf.

Def another head's up for Tim.  He drove the SUP movement in that area, he's been shaping them for years. Great guy, too.  If I needed a wave board that's what I'd be getting. I have one of his longboards, good stuff.

The guys and girls at Corolla Surf Shop are great. They did surfing lessons for my son and did a great job. They also do SUP lessons.
