Casso,

I made a masonite template to cut out the "tiles" two types that would line up with each other, side and on end. i had to make paper templates forthe center piece and the Big Island. It was sort of fun and worth the effort.  It was a lot of work, a visceral responce due to an upcoming move from Hawaii to your homeland...

The gaps between the tiles makes for better traction, you can dig your toes in. Still getting used to it, all my boards to date are one piece.

Just did it on my PSH 9'6 Ripper.  Came out great, lots of grip, but took a long time to put on.  So happy with the results and willpost some pics tomorrow.  It takes a long time to install but it is worth it.

Here's a pic of me applying my Bag of Pad.  Took almost 4 hours.

Mistral One Design with new traction

I'll bet that Mistral is a great distance racer. I'd love to grab one for cheap.

Hey Srfnff that's one sick looking angulo, how do you like that ride?

Hey Bill, I love my new 10-2 Angulo. Ed calls it "The Perfect Wave," but I call it the "Holy Grail," because it's a board that surfs loose like a surfboard, but paddles stable like a SUP. It won't wear you out just trying to stay on your feet. Nice eye candy too. I just got back from the Sacred Craft Expo and between keeping up the AnguloSup blog and my own, I'm way behind with the posts. I'll do a full write-up on the 10-2 and tell all. Ed's back on Maui now and if you're there give him a shout and try out the 11-11. I know you really liked the prototype in the board showcase. I think you'll like this one too. The 2009 models are the next level.

Oh yeah, the new Angulo's have mast tracks in them and although I've never wind surfed before, I got stoked on the thread about wind surfing a SUP. Read your articles and got more stoked. I gotta try that out.

Aloha Everyone,
Heres some of the deck pads I've been installing for the last few months...

Doing the fishing board was very humbling. It took some time and planning to make sure the pattern came out perfect.

Aloha......Sam

I have to say that in all my years of surfing (longboarding, shortboarding, windsurfing, prone paddleboarding, kitesurfing and now SUP), I have never seen an aspect of surfing move so quickly - this forum and information sharing venue have benefitted all...

I am saying this because I am a beneficiary of YOUR knowledge and innovation - here is my new board (9'6" Walden, 30" wide with an awesome "magic model" bottom just like Steve's great longboards) and the deck pad I was going to put on in one piece, now cut up and even better performance wise!!!!

I surfed this now in Oxnard beachbreaks, San-O, Dog Patch and Churches - awesome board and even better I believe because of the different shaped deck padding.

Hey VELASCO, I have the same WALDEN.  Same color and length.  Love it.
Lots of foil boards 6’7”-7’4”, L41 TVD’s and Jimmy Lewis Strikers..

Supstoked -

Did you order one for your wife at the same time?

I walked into the Steve's shop back in Aug and saw an orange and a blue surfing (RIPPING) SUP waiting to be mailed off to someone...

If so, we should compare notes - Jared at the shop also ordered one for himself (still waiting for it last I checked).

Let me know if that orange one was yours.

Yes, it was my orange 9'6" and my wife's blue 9'2".  I sometimes use her board (I'm 180).  It surfs really good.  But does not have much glide.  You have to take off inside with the pack.  My only gripe is that they are both heavy, although it does not affect the surfing much.  Just a bitch to carry around and put on the truck.

Here's another board built by me & my cousin Myron. This board is 12'x 28"x 4-3/8". This built took us one week. We started last week Wednesday and finished it today.

My cousin Myron is the master mind behind this design.

I would like to take this time to thank Bob's Mission Surf & Paddle Surf Hawaii for giving me some deck pad scrap's. We made use of every little piece.

If any one has scrap deck pads laying around the house, feel free to send it to me. I'll pay for shipping :D

Aloha........Sam
