"Insanity" workout

 I was doing some cardio at the gym today and watched about a half hour of the infomercial for "Insanity"  Its a hard-core work out with no weights involved. There seemed to be be some good results with people experiencing weight loss and ripped abs if they follow the program. I know infomercials try to sell this to you and was just curious if you, or someone you know is doing this? What was their results?

It's definitely hard-core HIIT (Hi Intensity Interval Training)..w/ short rest intervals.  Most of the people I know w/ positive experiences were already pretty athletic and "feel the pain" types.. I do know a handful who got hurt.  You have to be careful..when you do Hi Intensity bursts after little rest, form breaks down and injuries are waiting to happen.  I tell friends who want to try it to have a handful of go-to moves (replacement moves) to substitute for the moves most likely to injure them.
I would also advise just experimenting with some TABATA type interval training 1st.. i.e. 2:1 work:rest ratio... rope slams for 20s, rest 10s, burpees for 20s, rest 10s.........go for 4 minutes changing up moves or repeating a cycle of challenging moves... rest a few minutes then do another 4 minutes....  I much prefer the freedom of making up your own interval mix/moves as opposed to following a program prescribed for the masses..but I get the appeal

High Interval training is one of the best ways to train for SUP racing.  I have Insanity... it's tough! you'll be dripping sweat in less then 10 minutes!!! I never went through the whole program because it kicked my ass the first time, and I never tried again.  I should though.  I know others who have done it, and the bottom line is... you get out what you put in.

it's a lot of cardio stuff, trim down, it's not geared around  strength training like p90x is

I use the Cardio Core Balance Insanity DVD and its perfect for SUP winter training. I do it 3 times a week and have found my balance improving week after week (not to mention the few inches I've lost off my waist).
