Average Day at Dog Patch
« on: January 04, 2013, 05:10:16 PM »
Last week after an average session at an average spot... Tim Rudolph was talking to Dave Boehne of Infinity and said he took pics of the session. He then said that he got a few of me.

Huh?

Anyway...here's what he grabbed.

This was actually an air attempt that turned into just a top turn. Got to keep working on that.

This is one reason I love the Blurr model from Infinity. The tail is loose!!! That's the Correban guy I think paddling out. Keep in mind...I'm 6'6 and 230lbs. Many thanks to Infinity for crafting a board for even a big guy like me to try to shred on.

Just an average top turn.

This is me trying to set up to throw the board up on the foam to do a top turn to "fakie"...but I failed at completing the maneuver.

Thanks Tim for the shots!

p.s. today I SUSed Newport and came out of my first SUP barrel. Woohoo!

Nice shots... good on Dave to take care of the customer... not to mention, you show his boards well. ;D

*thumbs up!*

Nice tracks, Giant. :)

SoCal, Cardiff Reef had BOMBS today. Legitimate 4ft overhead rogue sets.  It was nuts, and crowded. There was a guy taking pics (hoping to get some via email).

Giant - Nice job putting that Blurr in those photo-worthy positions, and thanks for sharing.

I'm curious about the dims of your board, and what you've found to be its strengths and weaknesses in various conditions.  Always thinking about that next board . . .

GB

Strengths: carving faces, slashing shoulders, bashing lips, turning, sliding the tail, rail to rail speed ups...anything fast.

Weaknesses: doesn't paddle as fast as a bigger board, it's less stable than a bigger board, doesn't like choppy conditions to stand around on. (These are acceptable losses to me btw)

Dimensions: 8'6x30"x4.5" (width is our friend!)

I bought it to be my "when it's glassy and firing" board and ended up riding it daily. From knee high mushers to over head bombers.

I have since ordered another one at 7'11x29"x4.5/8". Should have it soon. Maybe *that* will be my "when it's glassy and firing board"?

This morning I rode my 1st custom SUP. A big ol' 9'6x29.5"x4.5" Infinity Carver. It certainly carves well, but I don't need that length. That's going back in the rafters.

Hope that helps GB.  ;D

Thanks Giant.

I'm in complete assimilation mode - trying to figure out which direction to go with the next board.  All info helps.

Again, thanks.

hit those sections a little further on the backside of the wave and ull launch that air! wave is steeper there and ull land on soft foam as apposed the flats.

This wave is soooo mushy an air will be quite the feat. :)
